Two Sullivan County Rural Electric Cooperative (SCREC) employees, Todd Molyneux, Manager of Electric Operations, and Sarah Parrish-Stimmel, Cooperative Communicator, were recently recognized during the 2026 Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association (PREA) Communications Awards Ceremony, held Oct. 7 at the Nittany Lion Inn in State College. The program was sponsored by PREA, the statewide organization representing 13 electric cooperatives in Pennsylvania and one in New Jersey, and the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation.
Awards for the evening were presented by Pete Fitzgerald, vice president of public affairs and member services at PREA.
SCREC received three awards during the ceremony:
- Award of Excellence for Best Perspective Column, “Why Does My Power Blink?” written by Todd Molyneux, published in the September 2025 issue of Penn Lines;
- Award of Excellence for Best Website; and
- Honorable Mention for Best News Story, “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane… It’s a Drone Inspecting SCREC’s Electric Lines” written by Sarah Parrish-Stimmel, published in the November 2025 issue of Penn Lines.
The awards program was held in conjunction with the 2026 PREA Communications Workshop. During the day-and-a-half educational event, cooperative communicators heard presentations on effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence, methods to improve writing, member communication strategies, and digital storytelling techniques and technologies.
Fourteen representatives from ten Pennsylvania and New Jersey cooperatives attended the workshop. Representing SCREC was Sarah Parrish-Stimmel.
